Alliance for a Grand Community

This project is led by nine of the larger cultural institutions of Waterloo Region dedicated to the development of tools and mechanisms for sharing resources, building capacity, strengthening community connections, and leading the regional cultural sector and the community at large towards further excellence.

A free weekly email list promoting art and culture in Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge and surrounding areas.

A project that is exploring the possibility of developing a local version of a nation-wide arts in education program.

Available Space Art Project (ASAP)

Available Space Art Project places artworks in downtown Kitchener storefronts, restaurants, cafes and vacant spaces. Our goal is to support regional visual artists of any media – including sculpture, painting, installation, textiles and printmaking.

Brush With Art is a unique grass roots organization that has been raising friends and funds for the visual arts in Waterloo Region since 1999.

The overall objective of President Johnston’s 10 Goals is to establish Waterloo Region as the "Knowledge Capital of Canada" by the year 2020.

 

Prosperity Forum Task Force on Creative Enterprise

This initiative is led by the Prosperity Council of Waterloo Region. A Task Force with broad community representation, including businesses, municipalities, arts&culture leaders, and representatives from our colleges and universities, has been meeting regularly to organize develop and execute a regional cultural development strategy.

 

Visual Arts Presenters Alliance

The Visual Arts Presenters Alliance (VAPA) is an ongoing project originally funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation to develop strategies for increasing awareness of the visual arts throughout Waterloo Region with emphasis on marketing, fundaising/friendraising and volunteer devlopment.

 

Vital Signs

Vital Signs is an annual check-up that measures the vitality of our region, identifies significant trends, and assigns grades in 11 key areas critical to Waterloo Region’s quality of life, including arts & culture.

A discussion paper that outlines what a reformed WRAC or a new agency to take its place might look like.

Besides Art & Culture, the key areas include: Belonging and Leadership – Environment – Gap Between the Rich and Poor – Getting Around – Getting Started in Our Community – Health and Wellness – Housing – Learning – Safety – Work.
