Riverside Print Group

Page history last edited by David Scott 15 years, 7 months ago

When Cambridge Galleries opened the new printmaking studio as part of its Design at Riverside Gallery, classes were offered in, among other things, etching and drypoint. A small group of people took an etching course from instructor Brian Musson. They enrolled again and again, developing in the process their own little atelier or workshop, and continuing to learn from Musson and from each other. They became a group of artists and friends that enjoys exploring the almost infinite variety that this ancient art form offers. It named itself the Riverside Print Group.

Design at Riverside's printmaking studio (inside the School of Architecture on Melville Street) has two presses, one full-sized, one small, and a light, bright, well-equipped space. One Saturday a month, the print group meets to work together, as well as continuing to take a Thursday night class with Brian Musson. For more information, go to Cambridge Galleries.

For those with some experience in printmaking, particularly etching and drypoint, you'd be very welcome to come and work with us. The Cambridge Galleries also provides introductory classes to printmaking of various kinds.

The group has had two shows, the most recent being a month-long exhibition called "Unintended Consequences" at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts  June 13th to July 13th, 2008. It was held with the generous support of the Cambridge Galleries, the Cambridge Centre for the Arts, and the Ontario Arts Council.
