ArtsSmarts is a nation-wide education initiative dedicated to improving the lives and learning capacity of Canadian children by injecting arts into their academic programs.

ArtsSmarts projects are designed to suit local circumstances and reflect locally-shaped themes. They are planned and executed through partnerships involving artists, arts organizations, community organizations, teachers and schools and school boards.

The Waterloo Regional Arts Council is serving as the lead organization for a broad-ranging group of individuals and organizations interested in developing such a program in Waterloo Region. The Lyle S. Hallman Foundation, the Musagetes Fund at the KW Community Foundation and the Regional Municipality of Waterloo have provided funding for a scoping exercise to determine the feasibility and shape of such a project.

The ArtsSmarts Waterloo Region Project Coordinator is Gabrielle Clermont. She can be reached at gabriellec@rogers.com.
